Merged community foundation calls in heavyweight

Silicon Valley Community Foundation names Emmett Carson president and CEO. The newly formed Silicon Valley Community Foundation has named leading nonprofit executive Emmett Carson as its CEO and president.
The SVCF was created a few months back with the merger of the Peninsula Community Foundation and the oddly named Foundation Silicon Valley Community. Carson, for now still CEO and president of the Minneapolis Foundation, was selected out of a field of more than 100 candidates.
Visionary
"Emmett is uniquely qualified to lead the new Silicon Valley Community Foundation because, more than any other candidate, he brings expertise in every facet of the job," says Patricia Bresee, chair of Peninsula Community Foundation and vice chair of the board of the SVCF. "He combines the vision for an even better community foundation with the management skills to help create it."
Carson has several times been named among the top 50 most influential non-profit leaders by the NonProfit Times. He tripled the Minneapolis Foundation's assets to over $600 million. He has also helped shape the Ford Foundation, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and the Congressional Research Service. -FWR
